- 5 Ideas
That Work!: Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS)
involves assessing and environment and restructuring
that environment so that problematic behaviors decrease
and appropriate behaviors increase.
- Individual
Behavior Interventions: Ideas presented here will
reflect concepts validated by research. Specific tools
and resources will be highlighted.
- Classroom
Behavior Interventions:
Classroom behavior management skills are critical
for all educators. A teacher who is a master at the
content they teach, but ill equipped to manage behavior
will be ineffective and dissatisfied with their career.
- School
Wide Interventions: Behavior management is one
of the hottest issues in public education. While good
classroom behavior management is essential, its effectiveness
can be thwarted if there are no school wide procedures
in place to support the efforts of the teachers in
classrooms.
- Especially
For Parents: Being a parent is the most difficult
job in the world. Raising a child to be a responsible
citizen is a huge undertaking. It begins when children
are very small, the terrible two's for example, and
continues throughout the "terrible teenage"
years and sometimes into adulthood. Dealing with "normal"
difficult behavior stages is hard enough.
-
Working
with young children is both a challenge and
a joy. Our goals for young children in preschool
classrooms are to be socially adept and highly motivated,
ready to learn about the ever evolving world. When
children use materials inappropriately or do not
interact well, we consider them as having a behavior
problem.
